Chennai, February 28 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Chennai on Saturday for a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. During this time he will participate in the inauguration of development projects, political programs and a religious visit.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Chennai from Gujarat and was welcomed by Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, Union Minister of State L Murugan, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and other senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders.
Prime Minister Modi will rest for the night at Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan on Saturday and leave for Puducherry on Sunday morning.
In Puducherry, Prime Minister Modi will attend a public meeting of the National Democratic Alliance and perform the bhoomi pujan of development projects worth Rs 2,700 crore. These projects are to boost infrastructure and public services in Puducherry and its regions.
On Sunday afternoon, the Prime Minister will travel to Madurai, where he will inaugurate and perform the bhoomi-pujan of infrastructure projects worth Rs 4,400 crore. These initiatives are expected to boost road connectivity, urban infrastructure and regional development in South Tamil Nadu.
At around 4 pm on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi will offer prayers at the historic Tirupparankundram Subramanya Swamy temple, one of the six main temples of Lord Murugan.
The Prime Minister’s visit includes the inauguration of the new four-lane highway connecting Madakkanam-Puducherry and Paramakudi-Ramanathapuram. This will improve connectivity between cities and is expected to boost trade and tourism.
Under the Centre’s Amrit Bharat Scheme, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate to the nation eight redeveloped railway stations in Tamil Nadu, Morappur, Bomidi, Srivilliputhur, Cholavandan, Manapparai, Pollachi Junction, Karaikudi Junction and Thiruvarur Junction.
Additionally, three new All India Radio FM relay transmitters will be launched at Kumbakonam, Yercaud and Vellore, to strengthen broadcasting services in Tamil Nadu.
This visit of the Prime Minister will attract special political and public attention ahead of the upcoming important election activities in Tamil Nadu, combining both infrastructure inauguration and public relations.
