The Congress on Monday alleged that it was just hypocrisy for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a statement before the start of the Parliament session as he was not present in the House himself and did not communicate with the opposition.
Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh also claimed that the Prime Minister himself is responsible for any deadlock in Parliament.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hit out at the opposition, alleging that it was turning Parliament into a “platform to vent out frustrations” after the election defeat. Modi also said that if the opposition wants, he is ready to give some suggestions to bring positivity in politics.
Addressing reporters in the Parliament complex before the beginning of the winter session of Parliament, the Prime Minister said that this session should not become political theatre, but should become a medium for constructive and result-oriented debate.
Hitting back at this, Ramesh posted on ‘X’, “The Prime Minister never attends Parliament and does not give it importance. He never communicates with the opposition. Yet before each session he stands outside the Parliament House and addresses the nation asking for constructive cooperation from the Opposition to ensure the smooth functioning of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
“If Parliament does not function smoothly, the blame lies entirely with the Prime Minister because he has refused to allow the Opposition to raise issues of urgent public importance,” he said. He always wants to follow his path without giving the opposition at least a chance to express their views.
Ramesh alleged that the Prime Minister’s statement before the commencement of Parliament is nothing but hypocrisy. Taking a dig at the Prime Minister, he said that only the biggest ‘dramebaaz’ are talking about ‘drama’.
