Congress leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is firm on his statement questioning the Indian Army regarding Operation Sindoor. Chavan had claimed that India had to face defeat on the very first day of Operation Sindoor.
When asked about the opposition to his statement, Prithviraj Chavan was adamant and said, “Why would I apologise? The question does not arise. The Constitution gives me the right to ask questions.”
Meanwhile, BJP MP Brij Lal on Wednesday condemned Chavan’s statement on Operation Sindoor, alleging that Congress has always been in favor of Pakistan. He further said that the party has continuously humiliated the country.
The BJP MP further alleged that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi constantly insults India during his foreign trips.
“I strongly condemn this statement. The Congress party has always been pro-Pakistan. This Congress party has always insulted the country. Their leader Rahul Gandhi insults India whenever he goes abroad…the entire country is watching, and the public will teach the Congress a lesson,” Lal told ANI.
Apart from this, BJP national spokesperson CR Keshavan also strongly criticized Chavan’s statement. Responding to these statements, Keshavan alleged that Chavan’s comments made him look like a poor Pakistani spokesperson.
The BJP national spokesperson also demanded action against the Congress leader and asked for an apology from Chavan for his comments.
He said, “Prithviraj Chavan has talked nonsense like a cheap Pakistani spokesperson, deliberately defamed our armed forces, demanded their disbandment on Vijay Diwas. Why did Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka do this?”
Keshavan told ANI, “Did Gandhi not condemn Prithviraj Chavan and initiate action against him? Does he agree with his absurd statement? Congress has an anti-army mentality. The Supreme Court reprimanded Rahul Gandhi for his comments against the Army. The public will neither forget nor forgive Chavan’s statement. Action should be initiated against him for this shameful comment and he should apologise.”
Earlier, Chavan had claimed that India was defeated on the very first day of Operation Sindoor and Indian aircraft were shot down during the four-day conflict.
The Congress leader said, “We suffered a crushing defeat on the very first day of Operation Sindoor. We suffered a crushing defeat in the aerial skirmish that lasted for half an hour on the 7th, whether people believe it or not. Indian planes were shot down. The Air Force was completely stalled and not a single plane took off. If any plane had taken off from Gwalior, Bathinda or Sirsa, there was a strong possibility of Pakistan shooting it down, that is why the Air Force was completely It was stopped.”
Furthermore, he questioned the need to maintain large troopships, saying that wars would be fought in the air.
He said, “Recently, during Operation Sindoor, we saw that the movement of the army did not last even a kilometer. Whatever happened in two-three days, it was only air war and missile war. In the future too, wars will be fought like this. In such a situation, do we really need to keep an army of 12 lakh soldiers, or can we get them to do some other work?”
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people lost their lives. Pakistan retaliated, resulting in clashes that lasted from 7 to 10 May.
During the operation, India claimed that it killed over 100 terrorists in just 23 minutes using Rafale jets, Scalp missiles and Hammer bombs.
