Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that raising issues of public importance in Parliament is not ‘drama’, but not allowing discussion on them is ‘drama’. He said that important issues like Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and air pollution should be discussed in the House.
Prime Minister Modi on Monday hit out at the opposition, alleging that it was turning Parliament into a “platform to vent frustrations” after the election defeat.
Addressing reporters in the Parliament complex before the beginning of the winter session of Parliament, the Prime Minister said that this session should not become a political theatre, but should become a medium for constructive and result-oriented debate.
“Speaking and raising issues of urgent public importance in Parliament is not drama,” Priyanka Gandhi, Lok Sabha member from Kerala’s Wayanad, told reporters in the Parliament complex. The drama is that democratic discussion is not allowed on issues that matter to the public.” He asked, ”What is Parliament for? Why are we not discussing important issues?
