Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said on Sunday that if the ‘India’ coalition government is formed in Bihar, the allowance given to elected representatives of the Panchayati Raj system will be doubled.
Tejashwi said that representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions will also be provided insurance cover and pension of Rs 50 lakh. The Panchayati Raj system in Bihar is three-tier – Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayat. Their heads are called ‘President’, ‘Pramukh’ and ‘Mukhiya’ respectively.
Speaking to reporters here, Tejashwi said, “If the India alliance gets the mandate to come to power, then the margins of the Public Distribution System (PDS) dealers in the state will also be significantly increased in terms of money per quintal.”
He also announced that people belonging to barber, potter and carpenter community will be provided interest-free loan up to Rs 5 lakh by the state government. Voting for 243 seats of Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11 and the results will be announced on November 14.
