Muktsar Sahib, 4 October (IANS). The police of Shri Muktsar Sahib district of Punjab, taking major action against the smuggling of illegal weapons and narcotics, have arrested two accused.

Two 9mm pistols and three live cartridges have been recovered from an accused from Malot, while his partner was arrested from Ferozepur. In this operation, the police have exposed a large gang smuggling weapons and drugs through drones from across the border.

Under the leadership of Dr. Akhil Chaudhary (IPS), Senior Superintendent of Police of Shri Muktsar Sahib, the police is continuously campaigning against drug addicts and arms smugglers. In this episode, a special team of police station City Malot took action on the basis of secret information and arrested an accused with illegal weapons.

During interrogation, another of his companions were caught from Ferozepur district. Initial investigation revealed that the two accused belong to Pakistan -based smugglers, who smuggle weapons and drugs through drones.

The arrested accused have been identified as Ravi Singh, son Mittu Singh, resident of village Chhota Mega Rai North, District Ferozepur and Sandeep Kumar alias Raju Lamba, son Pritam Singh, resident village Vadda Mega Rai North, District Ferozepur. Police have recovered two 9 mm pistol and three live cartridges from his possession.

Investigation revealed that the accused used to receive consignments of weapons sent through drones from across the border and distributed them locally.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Akhil Chaudhary said that this operation is part of the campaign against drug addiction and weapons.

Police have started technical and financial inquiry to demolish the entire network of this gang.

Information about the use of drones, smuggling routes and financial transactions are being collected in the investigation. This campaign of the police not only recovered illegal weapons, but also revealed a large network of smuggling across the border.

Local people are satisfied with this action, as it is expected to curb the problem of crime and intoxication in the area. The police have appealed to the general public to immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity so that such crimes can be stopped.
