Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, reached his ancestral home in Fatehpur district on Friday to meet the family of Dalit Hariom Valmiki, who was killed in a mob attack in Rae Bareli. An officer gave this information.
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday reached Hariom Valmiki’s house in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh and met his family. Rahul Gandhi has appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to give justice to Hariom’s family and not protect the criminals. This incident happened on October 1 when Hariom Valmiki was beaten to death considering him to be a thief. In this case, the police have so far arrested about a dozen people and investigation is going on.
To meet Hariom Valmiki’s family, Rahul Gandhi left Delhi early in the morning by car and directly reached Fatehpur. Initially it was being said that the family was not ready to meet Rahul Gandhi. Many media reports claimed that posters were also put up there against Rahul Gandhi. However, Rahul Gandhi met the family and its pictures have also surfaced.

When Rahul Gandhi was asked a question about this, he said, ‘You saw that I met him. Talked to him for half an hour. This morning he was threatened, people from the government threatened him and told him not to meet Rahul Gandhi. You say on the video. They told us this but it is not necessary. It is not necessary to meet me or not. The important thing is that they are not criminals. He has not committed any mistake. His son and brother have been killed. The culprits are other people and action should be taken against them.
Rahul Gandhi further said, ‘I came here today and talked to them, heard their pain and suffering. We are trying our best to help them in whatever way we can, if we are not in the government then we cannot help much but whatever we can do, we will do and wherever there is atrocities on Dalits, we will fight there.

After this meeting, Hariom Valmiki’s brother has said, ‘We have told him our problems and he has given assurance. We also told that the government is with us and the government is taking all action. On the allegations of taking the family hostage, he said that there is nothing like that. Hariom Valmiki’s uncle Chaudhary Bhakta Das has said, ‘Administration is in place, orders for jobs have also been given. Joining letters for jobs have been given to boys and girls in the medical college. We are satisfied with the district administration and governance.
