Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said his party’s philosophy is that of renowned musician Zubeen Garg, who dedicated his entire life to uniting Assam.
Addressing an election rally in Biswanath district of Assam, he alleged that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is the “most corrupt chief minister” of India and action will be taken against him after the Congress forms the government in the state.
Rahul said, “Zubeen Garg spent his entire life in uniting the people of Assam, he never misbehaved with anyone. The philosophy of Congress is also the same, spreading love against hatred.”
He alleged that the Sarma-led BJP government was spreading hatred against people and communities.
Rahul Gandhi said, “Let him speak for a few more days. After that, Congress will form the government in Assam and even if he apologizes, legal action will be taken against him.”
Voting in Assam will take place on April 9 and counting of votes will take place on May 4. These elections, which are being seen as an important contest, can see many high-profile contests which can influence the political direction of the state to a great extent.
The focus of this election is the tight contest between Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, which is being seen as a key test of whether the BJP can win a majority on its own.
