Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Thursday alleged that during the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections, power is being cut intermittently to deliberately slow voting at the strong booths of the Grand Alliance.
RJD tagged the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the State Election Department with its official ‘X’ handle and wrote, “In the middle of the first phase of voting, power is being cut intermittently at the strong booths of the Grand Alliance in order to slow down voting. Slow voting is being done deliberately. The Election Commission should take immediate cognizance of such rigging, bad intentions and malicious intentions and take immediate action.”
The Election Commission has termed RJD’s allegations as completely “baseless and misleading”. According to the commission, voting is going on “smoothly, transparently and uninterrupted” at all polling stations in Bihar.
“The Election Commission of India is following all standard protocols to make the voting process fair, transparent and seamless. There is no basis for such misleading propaganda,” a commission spokesperson said.
In the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections, voting is going on on 121 seats in 18 districts of the state. The Election Commission has appealed to the voters not to pay attention to rumors and exercise their franchise freely.
