As part of the message of promoting fuel saving and better utilization of resources in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set an important example on Wednesday. Normally the Prime Minister’s convoy consists of 12 to 15 vehicles, but this time he reduced his convoy to only two vehicles.
According to sources, now the Prime Minister himself was present in one vehicle of the convoy, while the other vehicle included SPG (Special Protection Group) security personnel and other security officials. This step has been taken keeping in mind the safety protocols as well as the message of administrative simplicity and fuel savings.
Prime Minister Modi has been appealing to the countrymen for a long time to use less petrol and diesel and make energy conservation a part of lifestyle. His move is being seen as an attempt to implement the same message at the grassroots level.
The impact of this initiative is also visible on other leaders at the central and state level. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda have also decided to reduce the number of vehicles in their convoy. This has further strengthened the message of resource saving and discipline at the government level.
In this sequence, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has also issued instructions to reduce the number of vehicles in his convoy. Earlier, about 14 to 16 vehicles used to be included in the convoy of the Chief Minister, but during his visit to Delhi on Wednesday, this number came down to only 5 vehicles.
Experts believe that such steps are not only symbolic, but also have significant social impact. When the country’s top leaders themselves adopt frugality, it impacts the general public as well and people become more conscious about the use of resources.
However, security experts also believe that VVIP security is a complex process and the composition of the convoy is decided according to the circumstances. In such a situation, it is important to pay full attention to safety standards while reducing the number of vehicles.
