Hyderabad, May 20 (IANS). The scorching heat and continuously rising temperatures in Telangana have increased the problems of the people. The danger of heat wave is increasing rapidly in many districts of the state. Meanwhile, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has appealed to the people to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe heatwave alert in several districts for the next five days.
In view of the worsening situation, especially in the districts of North Telangana, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed the officials to take necessary steps immediately. He said that to ensure that people do not face any kind of problem, adequate quantity of ORS packets should be made available, the supply of drinking water should be smooth and there should be no interruption in power supply.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), CM Revanth Reddy has also instructed the Health Department to remain alert. He said that patients suffering from heat wave and sunstroke should get better treatment in hospitals. Besides, instructions have also been given to set up ‘Chali Vendralu’ i.e. free drinking water centers in urban areas, so that people can get relief.
The Chief Minister appealed to the people not to come out of their homes in the afternoon and avoid unnecessary travel. He met Chief Secretary K. Instructions were given to Ramakrishna Rao that the situation in all the districts should be continuously monitored and necessary guidelines should be issued to the district collectors from time to time.
According to the bulletin issued by IMD on Wednesday, heat wave is likely to prevail in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts on May 21.
Heatwave conditions are predicted to continue on May 22 in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Nagarkurnool and Vanparthy districts.
Meanwhile, there was severe heat in many parts of the state on Wednesday. According to Telangana Development Planning Society, 30 out of 33 districts in the state recorded maximum temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius, while in 12 districts the temperature reached more than 45 degrees Celsius.
Aliyapur in Korutala mandal of Jagtial district was the hottest place in the state, where the temperature was recorded at 45.9 degrees Celsius. The temperature at three places in Nalgonda, Nirmal and Siddhipet districts was 45.8 degrees Celsius. Velganur in Mancherial and Eligad in Peddapalli recorded a temperature of 45.7 degrees. At the same time, the mercury reached 45.6 degrees Celsius at five places in Adilabad, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Rajanna Sircilla districts.
