Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on the occasion of his Prakash Utsav and remembered the Sikh Guru’s immortal legacy of courage, compassion and sacrifice.
In a post on Twitter, the Prime Minister said that Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji continues to inspire generations to uphold truth, justice and dharma, while also guiding people towards service and selfless duty.
Prime Minister Modi wrote, “On the occasion of the sacred Prakash Utsav, we bow to Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He is a symbol of courage, compassion and sacrifice. His life and teachings inspire us to stand for truth, justice, piety and protect human dignity.”
The Prime Minister also shared highlights of his visit to Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib, one of the five Takhts of Sikhism and the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, earlier this year.
The Prime Minister further said, “These photos are from my visit to Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib earlier this year, where I also had darshan of the sacred Jore Sahib of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji.”
Prakash Parv, celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm and excitement. Gurudwaras are decorated with glowing lamps symbolizing light, followed by Anand Path and Prabhat Pheri, which starts a few days before the main festival.
Earlier, on December 26, Veer Bal Diwas was observed across the country to remember the sacrifice of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice at the young age of nine and six years respectively to protect the dignity and honor of Sikhism.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on January 9, 2022 that December 26 will be observed as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ to commemorate the martyrdom of the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
