Chandigarh, May 21 (IANS). State President of Haryana Congress, Rao Narendra Singh, while talking to IANS on Thursday, while supporting the ongoing SIR process in the state, said that it is necessary that the voter list be improved. However, he also said that any party tampering with the voter list for political gains is wrong and Congress opposes it.
Regarding the ongoing SIR process in Haryana, he said that the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee has formed a special committee for this, in which senior leaders have been included. Along with this, workers are being appointed at every assembly constituency and booth level so that the voter list can be checked properly. He says that in no way should wrong votes be added and the name of the eligible voter should not be left out of the list.
He also said that names of dead persons should be removed, votes recorded at more than one place should be corrected and only one vote for one person should be ensured. According to him, party workers will have to keep a constant eye on this process so that the electoral list remains transparent.
He said if any political party deliberately tries to influence votes on the basis of religion or caste, whether in the form of adding or deducting votes, the Congress will oppose it. He says that Congress is a party that believes in the Constitution and it talks about keeping the electoral process fair by staying within the ambit of the Constitution.
After this, he also talked about the instructions given regarding singing ‘Vande Mataram’ in the schools of West Bengal. He says that states have the right to make cultural and educational policies in their own way and there is a need for balance rather than dispute on this. Also, regarding changes in policies related to OBC reservation or social classes, he said that there should not be any injustice to the poor and backward classes. He believes that governments should make policies that take all sections of the society along, especially the poor, labourers, farmers and the unemployed.
He said that Rahul Gandhi has been alleging for a long time that there are many institutional problems in the country and the government policies are affecting the educational institutions and administrative structure. He also said that Rahul Gandhi has warned many times about the economic situation and the government should take these things seriously. According to him, no matter who the political leader is, if he expresses concern over the situation in the country, it is the duty of the government to consider those things and take corrective steps so that instability does not increase in the country.
He told that on the night of 15th, some unknown people were trying to enter his residence by jumping over the wall. Around six people entered the premises by crossing the boundary wall, cut the wires of CCTV cameras and tried to lock the doors of the servant quarters from outside. Attempts were also made to break some doors and latches. However, after the staff inside woke up and started making noise, they ran away. This incident was immediately reported to the police and investigation was started.
He also said that the police have CCTV footage and the investigation into the case is ongoing, but no one has been arrested yet. He also asked to talk to the Chief Minister of Haryana, DGP and SP of Nuh district on this subject.
He says incidents of crime, such as theft, violence and other serious crimes, are a matter of concern in the state. Citing the data of the National Crime Records Bureau, he said that there is a need to pay serious attention to the increasing cases of crimes. He says that the government and the police administration should together strengthen law and order so that the common citizen can feel safe.
