Ahmedabad, December 5 (IANS). Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday laid the foundation stone of Menaba Rotary Multi-Speciality Hospital in Unjha in Mehsana district. This hospital will be built in 10 bighas. It will be designed as a modern, full-service healthcare institution for North Gujarat.
The Chief Minister said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat has witnessed a major transformation in both healthcare services and medical education.
He said that during his tenure as Chief Minister, there were only 1,175 medical seats in Gujarat. But today, due to the visionary thinking of PM Modi, this number has increased significantly, thereby ensuring that qualified doctors are now available even in remote villages.
Patel said the new hospital will become a modern health sanctuary for the area. The CM also honored the donors who contributed to the project and acknowledged their role in strengthening healthcare access for citizens.
The Chief Minister highlighted the key healthcare reforms initiated by the Centre, pointing out that the Ayushman Bharat scheme provided free medical coverage of Rs 5 lakh to families. He said that the state government has added another Rs 5 lakh, giving the citizens of Gujarat a combined health protection cover of Rs 10 lakh.
He further said that now dialysis centers are operational in every taluka and chemotherapy centers in every district, which has reduced the need for patients to travel long distances for necessary treatment.
Cabinet Minister Hrishikesh Patel stressed the importance of skilled medical professionals in healthcare delivery and credited the Prime Minister for the rapid increase in medical seats.
He said that Gujarat now has a strong network of PHC, CHC and sub-district hospitals and said that the strategic location of the new hospital will be very important during road accidents and emergencies.
This hospital to be built will have a built-up area of 100,000 square feet and more than 200 beds, which includes 20 ICU beds and 20 specialty clinics. It will have four operation theaters and specialty departments like General Medicine, Neurology and Spine Care, Orthopedics, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Cardiology, Oncology and Critical Care.
Advanced facilities like IVF, NICU-PICU, a chemotherapy unit and a special labor room for gynecology will also be part of the hospital. Under 24/7 service, the hospital will offer a pharmacy, lab, CT scan, digital X-ray, blood bank and ICU-on-wheels support.
MPs Haribhai Patel, Mayank Nayak and Babubhai Desai shared their congratulatory messages at the event. Respected Mahant Jairamgiri Ji Maharaj, many MLAs of the area, Unjha Municipality officials, APMC leaders, District Administration, donors and a large number of local people also participated in this ceremony.
