Delhi government is going to take another big step towards providing the benefits of government services to its citizens in a faceless manner. Now soon people will be able to apply for many important documents including birth certificate, caste certificate through WhatsApp.
According to government officials, the Delhi government has identified around 50 services from various departments, which will now be made available on WhatsApp.
The name of this scheme is ‘Governance through WhatsApp’, under which the services for which online application can now be brought on the WhatsApp platform with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
A senior official said that under this service, a bilingual chatbot (Hindi and English) will be made available, which will help users apply for services, upload necessary documents and pay fees.
The Information Technology Department is preparing this project. The same department has earlier operated the doorstep delivery service of Delhi Government. A dashboard will also be developed to monitor and manage the service, allowing real time interactions between different departments and applicants to be monitored.
The government will contract a technical company, which will design and implement this system. With this innovation, people will not need to visit government offices and will be able to get the necessary certificates sitting at their homes, which will make governance more transparent and citizen centric.
