Panaji, October 29 (IANS). The Election Commission of India has announced Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Goa. The qualifying date has been kept as January 1, 2026, so that the new voter list is clean and accurate.
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer issued a press note on Tuesday informing the general public and political parties about the complete timetable. This process will start from October 28 and continue till the final list publication on February 7, 2026.
Main stages and dates:
Preparation and training: 28 October to 3 November.
House-to-house count: From 4 November to 4 December. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit every house.
Reorganization of polling stations: Till December 4.
Preparation of draft list: From 5 to 8 December.
Draft voter list publication: 9 December (Tuesday).
Period for filing claims-objections: From 9 December to 8 January 2026.
Settlement of claims: 9 December to 31 January 2026.
Permission for final list: By 3 February 2026.
Final Voter List Publication: 7 February 2026 (Saturday).
In the course of door-to-door counting by the Commission, BLOs will give counting forms to every existing voter. One copy will be filled and returned and the voters will keep the other copy. Names of those who do not fill the form may be removed. BLOs will ask neighbors and note down the reason (death, transfer, duplicate). The list of such names will be posted on Panchayat Bhawan, Urban Body Office and CEO website.
In order to add a new voter, it is now necessary to fill an additional declaration along with Form 6 or 8. The BLO will carry 30 blank Form 6 and declaration forms, so that names of new people can be added on the spot. Notices will be sent to voters left out in the previous SIR after the draft publication.
The election officer said, “This process will make the voter list transparent and free from mistakes. All voters should cooperate. Voters can download the form from the official website of the Election Commission.”
Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had announced on Monday that 12 states/UTs will be covered in the second phase of Special Intensive Review (SIR).
