Patna, June 21 (IANS). Janashakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief and former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav on Saturday alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched to assassinate him and his father Lalu Yadav. In this regard, he has filed a police complaint against his former associate Akash Yadav and many others.
According to the complaint lodged at Patna’s Sachivalaya police station, Tej Pratap alleged that Akash Yadav, his sister Anushka Yadav and other family members conspired to kill both him and his ailing father.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Tej Pratap said that an FIR has been registered against Akash Yadav, Anushka Yadav and six others. He alleged that they were trying to harm his public image and were involved in a conspiracy against his family.
During the press conference in Patna, Tej Pratap said that my father Lalu Yadav is ill. They are plotting to kill both my father and me. He also appealed to Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary to ensure the safety of him and his family.
The controversy has its roots in Tej Pratap’s earlier public claims regarding his relationship with Anushka Yadav. At that time he had said that despite being married, he was in a relationship with Anushka Yadav.
After this incident, Lalu Yadav announced disciplinary action against his elder son Tej Pratap and barred him from party activities. Subsequently, Tej Pratap claimed that the social media posts related to this matter were made after his online account was hacked and termed the incident as a misunderstanding.
Before Tej Pratap filed the complaint, Akash Yadav had approached Patna’s Patliputra police station with allegations against the JJD chief. According to Akash Yadav, Tej Pratap and his associates tried to forcibly enter his house on the pretext of meeting family members.
He also alleged that he had received a threatening call from a US number in which the caller claimed to be linked to a jailed gangster.
Tej Pratap has denied these allegations and called them fabricated and politically motivated. He has also hinted at a bigger political conspiracy behind these alleged threats.
