Hyderabad, June 8 (IANS). Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday said he was ready for a debate comparing his government’s performance during the last 30 months with the performance of BRS’s 10-year rule in the state and the Modi government’s 12-year tenure at the Centre.
Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and other development works, he challenged both BRS and BJP for a debate.
He said that with BJP getting eight seats in Telangana, Narendra Modi has once again become the Prime Minister. He further said, “What have these eight BJP MPs done for Telangana? They are asking me what I have done in two years. What have you done? Let’s discuss who raised funds for Telangana.”
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy accused Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and other BJP MPs from Telangana of obstructing the release of central funds for the development of the state.
He said, “Why was Kishan Reddy, the BJP MP representing Chevella, Medak and Malkajgiri and elected MP from Secunderabad, not asking for funds from Prime Minister Modi? Was Kishan Reddy not obstructing the flow of funds for the development of Telangana? When PM Modi developed the Sabarmati river in Gujarat, everyone praised him, and now he is obstructing the Musi project?”
The Chief Minister also claimed that Kishan Reddy met the Prime Minister and Union ministers soon after submitting the memorandum on state issues in New Delhi. The Chief Minister wanted to know the reason for these quick meetings of Kishan Reddy.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has warned that the public will give a mandate against the BJP if Union ministers continue to hinder the development of the state.
The Chief Minister advised that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and Kishan Reddy should give suggestions to the state government and stop harming the people of Telangana with ‘corruption and arrogance’.
He announced that the construction work of the international bus terminal on 100 acres of land at Gajularamaram will start in three months. The Chief Minister assured that the state government will rise above politics and focus only on the development of Hyderabad and the state in the next 24 months.
He said that the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad are boosting the country’s economy. He said that Delhi is struggling with the problem of pollution, Mumbai is troubled by floods, and Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata suffer from traffic problems. He further said that Hyderabad is expanding rapidly, hence the city has been divided into three corporations to ensure systematic growth.
He said, “We have formed 3 corporations to meet the future needs of the growing city and have set boundaries to ensure coordination between the police and municipal departments. Let us rise above political agendas and develop our city.”
The Chief Minister stressed that claiming to be a ‘global city’ is not enough, but development must actually be in line with that vision. Under the master plan, the government is starting the second phase of metro rail and constructing 1 lakh houses for low and middle income group people within the city limits.
Revanth Reddy also highlighted the empowerment of women by providing breakfast scheme for students from school level to intermediate, free bus travel for women in RTC buses, setting up 150 stalls for women in three and a half acres through ‘Indira Mahila Shakti’ and allotting petrol pumps to them.
He said that Young India Residential Schools and Telangana Public Schools are also being established to provide quality education to poor students.
