After 32 candidates of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena were declared victorious unopposed in Maharashtra’s Thane district, the opposition Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have alleged rigging in the municipal elections, prompting demands for ‘NOTA’ option and legal action.
Of the 68 candidates declared victorious unopposed in the municipal elections across the state, 47 percent (32 candidates) are from Thane district alone, this figure is shocking.
