Grand swearing in ceremony in Kolkata tomorrow
It is noteworthy that after receiving the invitation from the Governor to form the government, the grand swearing-in ceremony of Suvendu Adhikari will be held in Kolkata on Saturday at 10:00 am. Paving the way for formation of new government in Bengal
Earlier, on May 7, the West Bengal Governor dissolved the 17th Assembly, ending the tenure of the Mamata Banerjee government. Although Mamata Banerjee had initially refused to resign from the post of Chief Minister, the Governor proceeded with the process of dissolving the 17th Assembly after the completion of its full term. As a result, the way for the formation of a new government has now become clear. On Saturday, Suvendu Adhikari will take oath as the Chief Minister.
Main reasons behind Suvendu becoming Chief Minister
In fact, Suvendu Adhikari is one leader who has defeated TMC supremo – and then West Bengal Chief Minister – Mamata Banerjee not just once, but twice. He had defeated her in Nandigram in 2021, and this time, he once again triumphed over Mamata Banerjee, and in doing so even entered her traditional stronghold of Bhawanipur. After this victory, Suvendu’s stature as a contender for the top post increased significantly. Suvendu Adhikari is also considered the architect of BJP’s election victory, as he played an important role in increasing the party’s number of seats to 207. He has previously served as the Leader of the Opposition and has considerable administrative experience. Moreover, he enjoys the full trust and confidence of both Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
