Guwahati, May 10 (IANS). The picture has become clear regarding the formation of the new government in Assam. In this regard, the Chief Minister’s Office of Assam shared an official post on the social media platform X on Sunday and informed about the order issued by the Governor. The post informed that Himanta Biswa Sarma has been appointed Chief Minister of Assam under Article 164(1) of the Constitution.

It has also been mentioned in the official order issued by the Governor that in exercise of the powers conferred under Article 164(1) of the Indian Constitution, the Governor of Assam has appointed Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Chief Minister. The order clarified that his swearing-in ceremony will be held on May 12 at 11:40 am at the Veterinary College Field, Khanapara, Guwahati.

Earlier, Himanta Biswa Sarma was unanimously elected leader in the meeting of BJP Legislature Party and NDA Legislature Party.

BJP had given special responsibility on behalf of the central leadership to complete the process of formation of the new government. The party had made Union minister JP Nadda an observer, while Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was appointed co-observer. Both the leaders played an important role in the legislative party meeting and government formation process in Assam.

Talking about the personal life of Himanta Biswa Sarma, he was born on 1 February 1969 in Guwahati, Assam. He holds MA and PhD degrees in Political Science from Gauhati University. Apart from this, he has also studied LLB. His wife Riniki Bhuiyan Sarma is an entrepreneur. He is survived by a son Nandil and a daughter Sukanya.
