The long wait for the name of Uttar Pradesh BJP President is about to end, and the official announcement of the new state President will be made on December 14. Former Union Minister and Organization Election Officer Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey said that the nomination process will be completed on December 13 at the state office in Lucknow, and Union Minister Piyush Goyal will announce the name of the new President on December 14. This election is considered very important because the organization wants to create a new strategy and leadership before the 2027 assembly elections.
Many names from OBC and Brahmin community included
According to sources, many big leaders of OBC and Brahmin community are in the race for the post of President. The names being discussed from the OBC community include Union Minister of State Pankaj Chaudhary, Cabinet Minister Dharampal Lodhi and Union Minister of State B.L. Verma is included. Former MP Harish Dwivedi and UP BJP General Secretary Govind Shukla are also being considered as potential candidates from the Brahmin community. It is also believed within the party that keeping in mind the caste balance and regional equations, such a face will be selected who can become a strength for BJP in the coming elections.
Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister will be present during the nomination process.
Nominations will be filed on December 13 from 1 pm to 2 pm and during this time Central Election Observer Vinod Tawde will be present in Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and both the Deputy Chief Ministers are also expected to be present as proposers. The party has called MPs, MLAs and senior leaders to Lucknow, where around 400 members of the Provincial Council will vote to elect the new President. There is also discussion that a prominent person from the backward or Dalit community can be made the State President. Names like Andarkhane, Swatantradev Singh, Sonkar, Pankaj Chaudhary and Keshav Maurya are also in discussion.
The situation regarding the post of State President has been uncertain for almost a year since the end of the tenure of the current State President Bhupendra Chaudhary, and many contenders for this post have been in the race for a long time. Names like Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Swatantra Dev Singh, Dinesh Sharma and Ramashankar Katheria have also been in discussion. The speculations intensified after Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti’s recent meeting with Amit Shah. The final decision on the new president will be taken on December 14, and it is believed that the party will decide on its new leadership keeping in mind the caste balance, strength of the organization and the upcoming elections.
