Agartala, June 12 (IANS). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday presented the state’s development roadmap ‘Lakshya 2047’ at a meeting of Chief Ministers and Chief Secretaries of North-Eastern states organized by NITI Aayog.
During this, he made many important proposals related to better connectivity, health facilities, investment and infrastructure development for Tripura.
NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Ashok Kumar Lahiri and other members of the Commission were also present in the meeting. Expressing his gratitude to NITI Aayog, the Chief Minister said that with its guidance and cooperation, Tripura is touching new dimensions of development.
Manik Saha said that the state’s vision document ‘Goal 2047’ is a blueprint for building an ‘advanced and better’ future. Its objective is to make Tripura future ready through better governance, strong institutional framework and effective utilization of available resources.
He said that in recent years, Tripura has made significant progress in the fields of administrative reforms, digital transformation, investment promotion, health, education, innovation and entrepreneurship. In terms of ease of doing business and simplification of rules, Tripura has secured first position among all states and Jammu and Kashmir in both Phase-1 and Phase-2.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the role of institutions like Tripura Institution for Transformation, Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority, Investment Promotion Agency of Tripura and Good Governance Department.
Talking about future plans, he sought cooperation on the need for better regional and international connectivity in the North Eastern region. Also a target was set to develop Agartala as ‘AI City’ and Tripura as pharmaceutical and medtech hub.
The Chief Minister demanded early opening of Sabroom-Ramgarh Integrated Check Post and Agartala-Akhaura rail link. Apart from this, it was also proposed to start Agartala-Chittagong direct air service, revival of Kailashahar airport, expansion of railway infrastructure and Vande Bharat Express between Agartala-Guwahati.
Referring to the achievements in the health sector, he said that due to better medical facilities, referral of patients outside the state has reduced.
CM Saha reiterated the demand for setting up AIIMS in Agartala and requested additional financial assistance for Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
