New Delhi, January 29 (IANS). Political rhetoric has intensified after the Supreme Court on Thursday put a stay on the new regulation of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Meanwhile, farmer leader Rakesh Tikat gave his reaction and said that the new regulation of UGC will increase litigation.

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait while talking to IANS said, “There was a lot of opposition to the new regulation of UGC in the last three days, due to which the Supreme Court took cognizance of the matter. The court has ordered to present the entire document in this matter. What are the flaws in it, what amendments have to be made or whether it will be banned, it remains to be seen.”

The farmer leader said, “Someone must have faced a problem. Those castes who have problems with this new regulation, sit and talk with them. Now the Supreme Court has taken cognizance of this matter. Many controversial things have happened in the past as well. If this continues like this, the country will be divided into castes. In such a situation, it will be very difficult to unite everyone when there is any trouble in the country.”

He said, “The new regulation of UGC will cause a lot of loss. It does not harm the government. Just like someone is angry and says that he will not vote for BJP and tells that he will vote on NOTA, then it will only benefit the government. If someone does not vote, then the government will benefit only. The government will do only that which will benefit it.”

Rakesh Tikait said, “The government wants to divide people into castes. This will lead to a lot of litigation. Suppose the SC community does not know anything, but others are educated. They can misuse it. Everyone has been given rights under the Constitution. Legal action should be taken under that.”

The Supreme Court on Thursday, while hearing the petitions challenging the new rules of the University Grants Commission (UGC), has put a stay on the new regulation of the UGC. The next hearing in this case will be on March 19. The court has also ordered that till then only the UGC regulations of 2012 will remain in force.
