UP: CM Yogi paid tribute to former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh, called him the messiah of farmers.

Lucknow, May 29 (IANS). Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid heartfelt tribute to former Prime Minister ‘Bharat Ratna’ Chaudhary Charan Singh on his death anniversary on Friday. CM Yogi laid flowers on his statue located at Vidhan Bhawan.

In his address, CM Yogi described former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Chaudhary Charan Singh as a great son of Mother India and the messiah of farmers.

The Chief Minister said that Chaudhary Charan Singh was born on 23 December 1902 in Uttar Pradesh. He was associated with the freedom movement of the country. The credit for all the reforms in the field of agriculture and revenue in the country goes to him. He had a clear opinion that the path to the development of the country goes through villages, fields and barns. Farmers should be part of the development agenda and priority of the government. Government schemes should be prepared keeping the farmers in mind. Keeping in mind the work done by Chaudhary Charan Singh in the interest of the country, he was also honored with the title of Bharat Ratna.

CM Yogi said that the Uttar Pradesh government is running many programs related to the interest of farmers to keep the memories of Chaudhary Charan Singh alive. In this, construction of Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park in Lucknow is also important. Apart from being a prominent politician of the country, he had made important contributions to the country and society. Chaudhary Charan Singh, who is called the messiah of farmers, was born in a farmer family. He received education from Agra University and later joined the freedom movement. He was influenced by the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and played an active role in many movements against the British. After independence he took many important decisions to strengthen the farmers, landless and rural economy. He died on 29 May 1987.
