Lucknow, 6 December (IANS). Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list is going on in Uttar Pradesh strictly following the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI). Amidst this process, the first case of hiding facts and giving wrong information in the SIR form has come to light in Rampur district.
According to details, the incident came to light when a woman allegedly submitted the enumeration forms on behalf of her two sons, Aamir and Danish, who have been living in Dubai and Kuwait for many years. He also forged their signatures on the calculation form. The fraud was detected during digitization of the forms submitted by the Booth Level Officer (BLO).
After this revelation, Rampur District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi directed to register an FIR against the three persons under relevant legal provisions.
Dwivedi said that SIR is being conducted with seriousness and complete transparency in all the assembly constituencies of Rampur.
He said that such a case came to light during the digitization of the form received in Part No. 248 of Assembly Constituency 37 (Rampur).
According to the DM, Noorjahan, mother of both the voters, submitted the forms in their names, while hiding the fact that they no longer lived in Rampur. This is a serious violation of election rules.
As per the guidelines of the Election Commission, any voter can submit the counting form only from the place where he ordinarily resides. Providing false information, hiding facts or keeping double entries is punishable under law.
Officials have clarified that persons who have mistakenly submitted forms from two locations can choose to withdraw it by contacting their booth level officer to get their entries corrected. However, strict legal action will be taken in case of willful violation.
DM Dwivedi urged residents to provide accurate, updated information during the vetting process and avoid making false declarations or wrong entries to ensure the integrity and fairness of the SIR process.
