Vice President Radhakrishnan and PM Modi offered floral tributes in the Parliament complex on Ambedkar Jayanti.

New Delhi, April 14 (IANS). On the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on Tuesday, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and many other leaders paid floral tributes to him in Parliament.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal, Rajya Sabha member Ramdas Athawale and Congress leader Udit Raj and many others also reached Parliament to pay tribute to the ‘Father of the Constitution’. During this, a light conversation also took place between PM Modi and Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Earlier, President Draupadi Murmu also paid tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. President Murmu is on Gujarat tour. He also paid floral tributes to the statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar at Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar.

The President wrote in his message, “On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the great social reformer and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, I pay my respectful tribute to him. Babasaheb Ambedkar was a jurist, economist, brilliant thinker, jurist and a powerful spokesperson for an egalitarian social system. He struggled throughout his life for the upliftment of the deprived and weaker sections of the society and made a historic contribution to their cause. He not only paved the way for eliminating inequalities. but also played a leading role in strengthening India’s democratic values and constitutional rights.”

He further wrote, “Babasaheb gave priority to women’s education and their rights. His multifaceted contribution will continue to inspire future generations to play an active role in the service and development of the country. Let us take this opportunity to resolve to imbibe the ideals of Babasaheb Ambedkar in our lives and contribute to building a just, inclusive and progressive India.”

Paying tribute to BR Ambedkar, PM Modi described his contribution in nation building as extremely inspiring and lasting for generations.

“Tributes to Babasaheb Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. His efforts towards nation building are extremely inspiring. His life and work will continue to inspire generations to build a just and progressive society,” the Prime Minister wrote on social media platform ‘X’.

He wrote in another post, “Babasaheb Ambedkar’s personality and work will remain an inspiration for nation building.” Along with this, PM Modi also shared ‘Sanskrit Subhashitam’, in which it was written, “Ayam Nijah Paro Veti Ganana Laghuchetsam. Udarcharitaanam Tu Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”

It is said in ‘Sanskrit Subhashitam’, “People with generous and big hearts rise above narrow mindedness and consider the entire world as their family. For them no one is alien, rather every person is their own and this feeling becomes the basis of love, unity and harmony.”
