Patna, July 11 (IANS). Janata Dal United (JDU) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad responded to various issues including India’s foreign policy, Indo-Pacific cooperation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to New Zealand and global partnership against terrorism. He said that in the current global circumstances, the importance of the Indo-Pacific region is continuously increasing and it is extremely important for India to develop strong relations with the countries of the region.
Janata Dal United (JDU) national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad said that India has benefited a lot from the Australia visit and now many positive results are expected from the talks and possible joint declaration between India and a major Indo-Pacific country like New Zealand.
He said the two countries have traditionally enjoyed good relations, but no Indian Prime Minister had visited New Zealand in the last four decades. It was described as a step to give a new direction to relations.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid special attention to strengthening relations with those countries with which India has historical relations and where there is huge potential for trade, strategic and economic cooperation. Its objective is to further strengthen India’s role in the global economy.
On a question asked regarding the budget of Assam, he said that this is the Assam government’s own decision. In the context of Bihar, he clarified that the NDA government of the state is currently not working on any such agenda nor is any such proposal being considered.
Responding to Prashant Kishor’s party’s decision to change its candidate in the Bankipur by-election, Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said that changing the candidate might have given him hope, but it also shows his political immaturity.
He claimed that Bankipur is a strong stronghold of BJP and NDA and it will not be easy to gain political hold there. He said that Prashant Kishore faces the challenge of maintaining his political credibility and proving his position in the elections.
On the issue of terrorism, he said that global partnership against it is the need of the hour. According to him, no country can consider itself completely safe from the threat of terrorism. Therefore, this challenge can be faced effectively only by strengthening international cooperation.
