An important meeting of Congress was held in Delhi. Many big leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra participated in it. There was no discussion on merger with TMC in the meeting; Any such speculation was declared baseless. The meeting lasted for about three hours. On the rumors of merger, Congress leader KC Venugopal said that these things are baseless and the main objective of the discussion was to strengthen the ‘India Block’ rather than any merger.
On the news of merger of Congress and TMC, Congress General Secretary (Organization) KC Venugopal said that these are completely baseless rumours. He told that Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee had met Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, but it was a normal conversation, as TMC is already a part of the ‘India Bloc’. Venugopal also talked about the issues of rising inflation, rising gas prices and exam paper leaks and termed paper leaks as a matter of major concern. He announced plans to hold nationwide protests over these issues at the national, state and district levels over the next two-three months.
Venugopal referred to the three-hour meeting held today and expressed concern over the cancellation of Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination. He compared it to the treatment meted out to a BJP-backed candidate in Jharkhand. He said that Natarajan’s nomination was canceled without any solid basis, while the BJP supported candidate in Jharkhand was given special preference. A Congress delegation met the Election Commission yesterday and placed these facts before them, but no decision has been taken yet; The party intends to fight this issue both legally and politically.
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi targeted the Center
During the meeting, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi attacked the central government. According to sources, Rahul said that Modi has ruined the country. Congress will hold nationwide protests on the issues of unemployment and paper leak. Preparations are going on for the first rally in Delhi.
