Itanagar, June 21 (IANS). Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik on Sunday said yoga today has transcended geographical boundaries and is being adopted globally as a universal path to holistic health, mental well-being and overall well-being.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu celebrated International Yoga Day with school children, Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Border Roads Organization (BRO), officials and citizens at Jhang in Tawang district.
Participating in the International Yoga Day program organized at Lok Bhawan, the Governor said that International Yoga Day is a global recognition of India’s eternal civilizational wisdom.
Describing Yoga as a great gift of India to humanity, he said that in this era of stress, anxiety, lifestyle disorders and sedentary lifestyle, Yoga provides a simple, affordable and sustainable form of preventive health care. He said that its importance has increased even more in the post-pandemic world, where mental flexibility, emotional balance and living a positive life have become essential.
Referring to the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’ set by the United Nations for the 12th International Day of Yoga, the Governor said that Yoga helps people of all age groups including youth to maintain physical fitness, mental alertness, emotional well-being and self-reliance throughout life.
He emphasized that yoga promotes good health, calm mind, positivity and inner strength, making it not just an exercise but a lifestyle. He encouraged people of all age groups, especially youth and senior citizens, to include yoga in their daily routine for a healthy and balanced life.
The Governor also lauded the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose resolution in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 resulted in the adoption of International Yoga Day with the support of 175 countries. Due to sustained efforts and spreading awareness globally, Yoga has evolved into a worldwide movement that promotes health, peace and human unity.
As part of his continued efforts to promote overall health and wellness, the Governor distributed copies of his booklet ‘Yoga for Common Health Challenges’ among the participants.
