Agartala, July 12 (IANS). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday said the state government is working to modernize government hospitals and create an integrated health system so that people across the state can get quality, technology-based and affordable medical services.
The Chief Minister said these things while inaugurating the newly constructed 50-bed Agartala Civil Hospital in the state capital, which has been named after Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee.
Describing the inauguration as a significant achievement in the state’s healthcare sector, Saha said the hospital is the beginning of a new chapter in the government’s efforts to strengthen the public health infrastructure.
He said that today Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Agartala Civil Hospital was inaugurated and dedicated to the public. This is a matter of great happiness for all of us.
The Chief Minister said that this hospital has been started as a pilot project and it reflects the government’s commitment towards modernization of government health institutions.
He said that we have seen the pitiful condition of government hospitals in the past, where chairs, tables were broken and the facilities were inadequate. Today we have come out of that situation. Since our government came to power, we have been continuously working for the modernization of government hospitals. We are not claiming that everything has been completed, but we are making steady progress in that direction. A new chapter has started in the healthcare sector of Tripura.
Saha, who also holds the charge of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said the government is committed to ensure that all hospitals in the state have adequate doctors, medical staff, ambulances and modern facilities so that people can get quality healthcare close to their homes.
He said that we are working on an integrated health system in Tripura and this hospital will function as a completely paperless facility. Poor people also have the right to get quality healthcare and better services and for this purpose this hospital equipped with modern technologies has been established.
