New Delhi, March 2 (IANS). Youth Congress President Udaybhanu Chib will be released from jail on Tuesday in the AI Summit demonstration case. Patiala House Court on Monday ordered the Delhi Government to complete the verification of bail surety and submit it to the court by 2 pm tomorrow (Tuesday).
Along with this, the court has extended the judicial custody of Udaybhanu Chib till Tuesday. Earlier, Delhi High Court had ordered the release of Youth Congress President Udaybhanu Chib, removing the ban on bail imposed by the Sessions Court.
The High Court has put a stay on the order passed by the Sessions Court, due to which the ongoing action against him has come to a halt for the time being. The bench of Justice Saurabh Banerjee gave this decision.
During the hearing of the case, the High Court postponed the order of the Sessions Court and issued a notice to the Delhi Police and sought its reply. The court asked the police to present a detailed version of the case.
Senior lawyer Siddharth Luthra presented arguments before the court on behalf of Udaybhanu Chib. Siddharth Luthra said that the trial court order was not given. The court has passed a unilateral order and the police is still keeping him in custody. The court asked Chib’s lawyer Siddharth Luthra what is the hurry in this? On this, Luthra argued that this is a matter related to liberty.
Earlier, Patiala House Court had granted him conditional bail. Duty Magistrate had granted bail to Uday Bhanu Chib on a personal bond of Rs 50 thousand. The court had said in its order that the crime branch could not give sufficient reasons for the need to extend the remand. While granting bail, the court ordered Uday Bhanu Chib to submit his passport to the court. Besides, orders were also given to surrender the electronic gadgets before the court.
