Pithoragarh, June 9 (IANS). Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra situated in the frontier district Pithoragarh is setting new records this year. Within just 39 days of the commencement of the Yatra, the number of Inner Line Permits (ILP) issued has crossed the record of the entire Yatra season of last year. According to the district administration, 36,526 Inner Line Permits were issued during the entire Yatra season in the year 2025, whereas 36,776 permits have been issued so far this year. This shows the increasing attraction towards travel among devotees, tourists, trekkers and nature lovers across the country.
District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgani said that due to better road connectivity, expansion of passenger facilities, simple permit process and improvement in residential arrangements, unprecedented growth in travel has been recorded. He said that local business, transport, homestay, handicrafts and self-employment activities are also getting direct benefits from the increasing participation in the Yatra.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Adi Kailash in the year 2023, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s yoga program in the year 2024 and Adi Kailash Ultra Marathon organized in the year 2025 have played an important role in giving the region a new identity at the national and international level. The district administration says that all necessary arrangements are being ensured to provide a safe, well-organized and memorable travel experience to the travelers. The increasing tourist numbers are also being considered a positive sign for tourism, employment generation and economic development of the border areas.
