BSP Campaign in Bihar: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has also filled its shout amidst the political heat of Bihar assembly elections. Akash Anand, nephew of former UP CM Mayawati and national coordinator of the party, has taken command of Bihar on Wednesday. He has launched the ‘Sarvajan Hitay Aware Yatra’ of BSP from Kaimur district, which will pass through 13 districts in 11 days. This time the BSP has decided to contest all 243 seats in Bihar alone. But the biggest question is whether Akash Anand will be able to create a political atmosphere for the BSP in Bihar after ‘home returning’?
BSP’s ‘memorable’ journey: to pass through 13 districts
BSP’s ‘Sarvajan Hitay Aware Yatra’ will pass through 13 districts of Bihar which are considered dalit dominated and most are adjacent to the border of UP. Starting from Kaimur, the journey will pass through districts like Buxar, Rohtas, Jehanabad, Chapra, Siwan, Gopalganj, Bettiah, Motihari and Muzaffarpur. The BSP wants to keep the Dalit community united in its favor by taking Dr. Ambedkar’s view of social justice from village to village through this visit.
Everyone’s eyes on ‘Dalit vote’, BSP’s path is difficult
The BSP’s political base in Bihar rests on Dalit votes, whose population is about 18 percent. But this time the path of BSP is not easy. The BJP has staked the stake to help the Mushar community through Dusadh and Jitan Ram Manjhi through Chirag Paswan, while in the ‘India’ alliance, the Congress has given a political message to Ravidas Samaj by making Rajesh Ram a state president. In such a situation, the decision of BSP’s ‘Ekla Chalo Re’ looks quite risky. Bihar’s electoral battle seems to be shrinking between two major alliances, in which fighting alone is like chewing iron gram.
BSP’s ‘tragic’ history: crop is harvested every time
The history of BSP in Bihar has been quite ‘tragic’. In every assembly election, the BSP prepares political land, makes MLAs, but every time its MLAs change with the ruling party. The series starts since 1995, when two BSP MLAs joined the RJD of Lalu Prasad Yadav. In 2000, five MLAs won, but they too left the party. In 2020, the only BSP MLA from Chainpur, Jama Khan joined Nitish Kumar’s JDU after winning the election and became a minister. This time Mayawati hopes that Akash Anand will end this ‘Tragedy’.
Why BSP pulses not made in Bihar?
In Uttar Pradesh, the way Kanshi Ram raised political consciousness in the Dalit community, no movement took place in Bihar. That is why BSP could never establish Dalit politics in Bihar. Dalit politics is quite different here. Dalits of Bihar seek their Messiah in every election and every time their voting pattern varies. From Babu Jagjivan Ram to Ram Vilas Paswan, no Dalit leader in Bihar could unite the entire community. Now it has to be seen whether Akash Anand will be able to pull the Dalit voters of Bihar towards him and will they be able to make political land fertile for the BSP.
