Uttarakhand: In view of the continuous heavy rains in the state, the red and orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department and the circumstances arising due to landslides at various places on the Chardham Yatra route, it has been decided to temporarily stop the operation of Chardham Yatra on Monday as a precautionary measure.
Garhwal Commissioner has instructed the concerned District Magistrates and officials that the pilgrims present on the Yatra routes should be accommodated at safe places and the further journey should be made only after the route is completely safe. Besides, instructions have also been given to provide timely correct information to the general public and pilgrims through media and other mediums.
The administration has clarified that this decision has been taken only as a precautionary measure in view of the current weather and route conditions, giving top priority to the safety of passengers. Yatra operations will be resumed once the route is safe and conditions become normal.
Pilgrims have been appealed not to pay attention to rumours, follow the official information issued by the administration and follow the instructions of the concerned district administration until the weather and route conditions become normal.
