Chhattisgarh weather: During the last 24 hours in Chhattisgarh, light to moderate rain occurred in most parts of the state. The maximum impact was seen in Surguja division, where good rainfall was recorded in many areas. The Meteorological Department (IMD) says that light to moderate rain will continue in North Chhattisgarh for the next five days. There is a possibility of further increase in rain activities from July 13.
Yellow alert issued in these four districts
For Sunday, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of rain in Surguja, Surajpur, Balrampur and Jashpur. There is a possibility of lightning along with thunder in some areas. However, in the second week of July, the pace of monsoon has weakened in the state.
Rainfall 21 percent less than normal
The effect of slow pace of monsoon is also visible in the rainfall figures. From June 1 to July 11, 21 percent less rainfall than average has been recorded in the entire state. According to the Meteorological Department, the state has received 252.4 mm rainfall during this period, whereas normally there should have been 320.6 mm rainfall.
More impact in Surguja, good rain in Bastar also
During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain occurred in many parts of Surguja division. At the same time, good rain was also recorded in some areas of Bastar division. Despite this, if we talk about the entire monsoon season, Chhattisgarh is still lagging behind the normal rainfall figures by 21 percent.
Durg was the hottest, Ambikapur was the coldest.
The highest maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Durg in the state. Whereas the lowest minimum temperature of 23.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Ambikapur.
Possibility of thunder and lightning in the next 24 hours
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be light to moderate rain in some areas of the state during the next 24 hours. There is also a possibility of lightning along with thunder at many places. People have been advised not to stand in open fields, under trees and near electric poles during bad weather.
Two big weather systems became the cause of rain
According to the Meteorological Department, two major weather systems are active at this time. First, there is a cyclonic circulation of upper air over Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Second, an upper air cyclonic system is also active in North-West Bihar and surrounding areas.
If we understand in simple language, both these systems are continuously pulling moisture in the atmosphere towards themselves. Due to these systems, the moist winds coming from the Bay of Bengal are reaching Central India, especially Chhattisgarh. Due to this, clouds are forming continuously and there is an atmosphere of rain in different parts of the state. The Meteorological Department says that the impact of these systems may increase further from July 13, due to which the rain activities are also likely to intensify.
Raipur will remain cloudy throughout the day
There is a possibility of cloudy sky throughout the day in the capital Raipur on Sunday. It may rain occasionally. There is also a possibility of thunder and lightning. The maximum temperature of the city is expected to be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 27 degrees Celsius.
Half the districts of the state are suffering from lack of rain.
Despite good rains in the last few days, the pace of monsoon has slowed down again in the state. Till July 11, there has been 21 percent less rainfall in the state. Out of 32 districts, 16 districts are suffering from lack of rain. According to the Meteorological Department data, rainfall has been normal in 14 districts, while excessive rainfall has been recorded in one district.
Highest rainfall in Sarangarh-Bilaigarh
Sarangarh-Bilaigarh is the only district in the state where very high rainfall has been recorded. There has been 462.5 mm rainfall here, whereas the normal rainfall is 265.7 mm. That means 74 percent more rainfall than normal has been recorded here.
Mungeli ahead of normal, situation balanced in many districts
Mungeli has received 331.8 mm rainfall, which is 21 percent more than normal. This district is included in the category of high rainfall. Balod, Baloda Bazar, Balrampur, Dantewada, Durg, Gariaband, Janjgir-Champa, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Korba, Mahasamund, Narayanpur, Raipur. Rainfall in Raipur, Rajnandgaon, Sakti and Bilaspur remains near normal.
Maximum lack of rain in North Chhattisgarh
The maximum rainfall deficiency has been recorded in North Chhattisgarh. Surguja has received 54 percent less rainfall than normal. 42 percent less rainfall has been recorded in Jashpur, 30 percent in Surajpur, 39 percent in Korea and 29 percent less in Manendragarh-Bharatpur. This is the reason why the Meteorological Department is continuously predicting the possibility of good rain in North Chhattisgarh.
Less rain than expected in Bastar too
Bastar is generally considered to be the strongest region of monsoon, but this time many districts here are lagging behind normal. There has been 27 percent less rainfall in Bastar, 20 percent in Bijapur, 34 percent in Kondagaon and 32 percent in Sukma. However, the situation remains relatively better in Dantewada and Narayanpur.
Next few days are important for farmers
The first fortnight of July is considered most important for sowing of Kharif crops. In districts where rainfall has been much less than normal, sowing and initial growth of paddy and other crops may be affected. The Meteorological Department believes that if there is good rain as per the forecast between July 13 and 15, then sufficient moisture will reach the fields and farmers can get great relief.
