Doctors Day 2026: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami participated as the chief guest in the program organized by the Indian Medical Association, Dehradun branch on the occasion of National Doctor’s Day at a local hotel located on Chakrata Road, Dehradun. On this occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated the doctors, health workers and all the people associated with the medical field of the state on Doctor’s Day and honored the excellent doctors.
Paying tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy on his birth anniversary and death anniversary, the Chief Minister said that his life inspires dedication towards medical service, human welfare and nation building. He said that doctors are not just experts in treating diseases, but they also infuse faith, hope and new energy of life in the society.
The Chief Minister said that doctors have been given special respect in Indian culture. Doctors render the greatest service to humanity through their service, compassion and dedication. He said that the doctors in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand are serving the public even amidst difficult geographical conditions and are an important basis for strengthening the health system in the hilly areas.
Recalling the contribution of doctors, nursing staff, paramedical personnel and all health warriors during the Corona epidemic, he said that during that period of crisis, health workers gave top priority to their duty. Many doctors even sacrificed their lives to save human life, their sacrifice will always remain inspiring.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, health services are being continuously expanded in the country and the state. In Uttarakhand, lakhs of needy families are getting cashless treatment facility through Ayushman Bharat Scheme. So far, more than 62 lakh Ayushman cards have been made in the state and free treatment worth more than Rs 2300 crore has been provided to more than 12 lakh patients.
He said that medical colleges, nursing institutions and modern health facilities are being expanded to strengthen the health infrastructure in the state. At present five medical colleges are operating in the state while two medical colleges are under construction. Along with this, nursing education is also being strengthened.
The Chief Minister said that super specialty services are being increased in Dehradun, Haldwani and Srinagar medical colleges. Construction of modern cancer institute is in progress in Haldwani. District hospitals and community health centers are being equipped with modern facilities. The construction of AIIMS satellite center in Kichha is also in the final stage.
He said that telemedicine services have been expanded to provide better health services in the hilly areas. Along with this, heli ambulance service is also proving to be life-saving for people in emergency situations.
The Chief Minister said that the government is paying special attention to the appointments of doctors, nursing officers and health workers. He clarified that it is the priority of the state government to ensure the safety, respect and better working environment of the doctors. Violence or abusive behavior towards any doctor will not be accepted.
He said that modern technologies like digital health, artificial intelligence and telemedicine have brought new opportunities in health services, but the biggest strength of the health system is dedicated human resources. For the patient, the doctor is a symbol of trust and compassion along with treatment.
The Chief Minister said that the health system of Uttarakhand can be strengthened further with the collective efforts of the state government, medical institutions, Indian Medical Association and the society. He said that the contribution of doctors serving in remote areas is especially commendable.
The Chief Minister called upon all the doctors to take care of their health and said that only a healthy doctor can play an effective role in building a healthy society.
He said that the state government has resolved that every citizen of Uttarakhand should be able to get access to quality health services and with everyone’s cooperation, a healthy, strong and self-reliant Uttarakhand will be built.
On this occasion, MLA Smt. Savita Kapoor and other public representatives, officials of the Indian Medical Association, expert doctors in the medical field, health department officials and other dignitaries were present.
