Uttarakhand news: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored NDRF, SDRF, Police, ITBP personnel for contributing to relief and rescue operations during the disaster at the “Pride Movement Honor Ceremony” organized by Arpit Foundation at Government Doon Medical College, Patel Nagar on Saturday.

What did CM Dhami say?

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this honor is a symbol of gratitude to such personnel, who have contributed their lives in relief and rescue operations during the disaster. The Chief Minister said that when we talk about Uttarakhand, the challenge of its natural beauty and spirituality, but also its geographical difficulties and the challenge of disasters every year also comes out. He said that landslides, floods, overflows and other natural disasters are common in our state situated in the lap of the Himalayas. While living in Devbhoomi, we know that the beauty of nature is as beautiful, the more challenges are unpredictable here.

Chief Minister Dhami said that we have all seen the tragedy of Kedarnath disaster of 2013, when thousands of people lost their lives in Jai Holocaust. Similarly, in 2021, the disaster in Rishiganga and Dhauliganga Valley of Chamoli shook the entire country. In 2023, Joshimath’s collapse also came to us as a major challenge. This year too, we faced many incidents of heavy rains, cloudburst and landslides in various areas of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Dehradun. Many people died in these disasters, many people went missing and the property suffered heavy damage. The Chief Minister said that the biggest challenge before us in these difficult circumstances was to protect human life, this was the time when police-administration people including SDRF, NDRF worked on ground zero to evacuate the people injured and trapped in the debris.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that during the disaster, our relief workers not only brought the affected families to safe places, but also conducted rehabilitation and relief camps. The Chief Minister said that we cannot forget the campaign for the trapped in Silkyara tunnel. Then the entire country was watching the rescue operations running day and night. But the blessings of Baba Bokhnag and the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi made our campaign a success.

Chief Minister Dhami said that whenever he visits disaster affected areas, he is confident that we are able to face every challenge. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah for providing support in disaster relief work and said that the Prime Minister himself came to Dehradun and met disaster victims and distributed their pain, heard their problems and held a review meeting and took quick decisions. He also announced a special relief amount of Rs 1200 crore for the people of Uttarakhand, which helped us in rehabilitation and reconstruction work.

The Chief Minister said that disaster does not only break buildings or roads, disaster also hurts people’s confidence and future. Therefore, the state government has ensured that disaster victims are not only given compensation, but also pay special attention to their rehabilitation and their livelihood. The Chief Minister said that the state government has provided state -of -the -art equipment such as drones, satellite based monitoring and state -of -the -art rescue gear to SDRF personnel. Also, local youth are being trained in every village under Disaster Mitra Yojana. Along with this, the use of disaster resilient technology in road and bridge construction has also been made mandatory.

The Chief Minister said that the government has also started the process of including disaster management training in schools and colleges, so that our future generations can deal with disaster dangers and better. The students expressed gratitude by welcoming Chief Minister Dhami specially to enforce anti -duplicate laws at the ceremony.

MLAs Mr. Premchand Aggarwal, Swami Rupendra Prakash, Shri Krishna Giri Maharaj, Additional Director General of Police Mr. V. Murugation, program convenor Mrs. Honey Pathak were present on the occasion.
