Narottam Mishra News: The by-election to be held on Datia Assembly seat of Madhya Pradesh has intensified the political stir within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party has made former divisional organization minister Ashutosh Tiwari its candidate from this seat. As soon as the candidate was announced, anger spread among the supporters of former Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra. Many workers protested, closed markets and blocked highways and raised slogans. This development has increased the concern from the state to the central leadership.
District organization also expressed displeasure
The protest was not limited to workers only. Datia District President of BJP Raghuveer Singh Kushwaha submitted mass resignation along with many of his officials and workers. He accused the party leadership of ignoring local workers. The letter said that if Dr. Narottam Mishra is not made the candidate within 24 hours, then resignation from the primary membership of the party will also be considered. This step has further heated up the politics of Datia.
Who is Dr. Narottam Mishra?
Dr. Narottam Mishra is counted among the senior leaders of Madhya Pradesh BJP. He was born in Datia district and made a strong mark in active politics for a long time. He has been elected MLA from Datia assembly seat several times and has held the responsibility of many important departments including Home Minister in the Shivraj Singh Chauhan government. Narottam Mishra is considered to have a huge support base in Datia due to his sharp political style, strong hold on the organization and activism in the area. For years, he has been among the prominent leaders of the area and his influence is also seen in the BJP organization.
Why did the supporters get angry after not getting tickets?
According to political discussions, there was a possibility of Dr. Narottam Mishra becoming the candidate in the by-election. But the party surprised everyone by giving ticket to Ashutosh Tiwari at the last moment. After this decision, supporters of Narottam Mishra openly expressed their displeasure. He says that the leader who has been active in the area for a long time has been ignored. This is the reason why many officials of the organization also came out in protest.
New challenge before BJP
Now the biggest question is whether the party will stick to its decision or take a new decision in view of the displeasure of the workers. If the decision is not changed, then maintaining the unity of the organization during the election campaign can be a big challenge for BJP. Political analysts believe that Narottam Mishra’s influence is very strong in Datia. In such a situation, if the resentment of his supporters is not resolved, it may impact the election strategy.
Why are by-elections taking place?
By-election is being held on Datia assembly seat because the assembly membership of Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti has expired. The court had sentenced him to three years in prison in an old co-operative bank fraud case. After this, under legal provisions, his MLA was canceled and the seat became vacant. Now the by-election on this seat is not just a contest between BJP and Congress, but has also become a big test of internal dissatisfaction of BJP. Everyone’s eyes are on how the party leadership convinces the angry workers and whether it is able to come together in the election field or not.
