Jharkhand Cyber Crime: In Giridih district of Jharkhand, cyber thugs have now made forests their new ‘safe house’ to escape from the police. On the basis of secret information received by Giridih SP Dr. Bimal Kumar, Cyber Station Police has busted a hi-tech ‘Jungle Control Room’ running in Charanbari and Kothahria forest of Bengabad police station area. Police have caught six vicious cyber criminals red handed from the spot, who were preying on people across the country.
The arrested criminals have been identified as Mahendra Kumar Mandal, Krishna Kumar Mandal, Ishwar Mandal, Pankaj Kumar Mandal, Ranjit Kumar Mandal and Aditya Kumar Mandal. According to the police, these criminals used to set up hideouts in dense forests away from populated areas so that the movement of the police could be monitored from a distance and the fraud could be carried out without any noise by using network signals.
The functioning of this gang operating from the forest was very vicious. These criminals used to send the link of fake APK file to people’s mobiles. As soon as any unknown person opened that link, these thugs sitting in the forest would have full access to that person’s mobile. After this, the hard-earned money was withdrawn from the bank accounts within a few minutes through hacked mobile phones. Police have recovered 11 mobiles, 13 SIM cards and 5 bikes from them, which they used to reach the forest and hide the instruments of fraud.
SP Dr. Bimal Kumar said that many of the arrested criminals are history-sheeters, who have already gone to jail from various police stations of Delhi and Giridih. After being released from jail, he again formed a gang and this time chose forests as his hideout. The police are now also investigating the bank accounts and other assets of these thugs.
