Kedarnath Yatra News: Kedarnath Yatra has been temporarily stopped due to bad weather and continuous heavy rains in Uttarakhand. The administration has taken this precautionary step after the Orange Alert issued by the Meteorological Department. Garhwal Commissioner Anand Swaroop informed that this decision has been taken giving priority to the safety of the devotees and the Yatra has been stopped till the weather becomes normal. As part of security arrangements, instructions have also been issued to stop passengers in Srinagar and Rishikesh, so that any kind of accident can be avoided.
Continuous rain and snowfall in Chardham area
The weather has completely deteriorated in the Chardham areas of the state. It has been raining heavily in Chamoli district since morning, while snowfall continues in the higher reaches. The famous Sikh pilgrimage Hemkund Sahib is also experiencing continuous snowfall. At the same time, in Badrinath Dham, there is a white sheet of snow on Nar-Narayan and Neelkanth mountains, due to which the temperature of the area has gone down significantly.
Unusual rainfall in the last few months
According to the data, Uttarakhand has recorded about 45 percent more rainfall than normal in the last four months. While in recent days the temperature had reached close to 40 degrees Celsius in areas like Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee and Kashipur, in the last 48 hours the weather took a sudden turn and heavy rains started in many areas.
Kedarnath Yatra made a new record
Despite the challenges of weather, the journey to Kedarnath Dham has been historic this year. Within just 39 days, more than 10 lakh devotees have visited Baba Kedar, which is a new record in itself. This figure is considered very important in the history of Chardham Yatra. The enthusiasm of faith and devotion of the devotees is continuously visible. Despite bad weather, a large number of pilgrims were reaching Kedarnath every day, due to which the Yatra achieved this feat at a fast pace.
Administration alert, monitoring the situation
The administration has made it clear that the journey will be resumed as soon as the weather becomes normal. At present, vigilance has been increased in the entire Chardham area and constant monitoring is being done to ensure the safety of the pilgrims.
