Bihar Election 2025: Political activities have intensified in Bihar elections, while major upheavals are also being seen in many parties. Meanwhile, just before the first phase of voting for Bihar Assembly elections 2025, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party has suffered a major setback. Sanjay Singh, the declared candidate of Jan Suraj from Munger Assembly seat, has left the party and joined the BJP. His move has not only badly affected Jan Suraj’s strategy, but has also completely changed the electoral mathematics of Munger seat.
According to the information, Jan Suraj Party had declared Sanjay Singh as its candidate from Munger Assembly constituency a few weeks ago. He was continuously engaged in the campaign and along with Prashant Kishore’s team, he went from village to village and talked to the public. But a few days before the voting, he left Jan Suraj and surprised everyone by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Sanjay Singh took membership of BJP today on 5th November 2025 i.e. Wednesday in a program organized in Patna. During this, he said that his decision is completely for the benefit of ‘the development of the state and stable government’. He said, “I have joined BJP to enhance the work that Bihar has done under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.”
Now Munger’s equation has changed
BJP has declared Kumar Pranay as its candidate from Munger Assembly seat (number 165), while Avinash Kumar Vidyarthi is in the fray from RJD. Earlier, due to Sanjay Singh being in the field, the contest was being seen as triangular, but after him joining hands with BJP, now a direct fight seems to be taking place between BJP and RJD.
Owaisi’s party also fielded its candidate
Meanwhile, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has also declared Monazir Hasan as its candidate from Munger seat. Monazir Hasan has been a minister in the cabinets of both Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav. In such a situation, a big contest can be seen in Munger between four parties BJP, RJD, AIMIM and Jan Suraj (now in a weak position).
Election history of Munger seat
The history of Munger assembly seat has also been witness to a big contest:
– In the year 2010, this seat was won by Ananth Kumar Satyarthi of JDU.
– In the year 2015, RJD’s Vijay Kumar ‘Vijay’ defeated JDU candidate by a margin of about 2.60% votes.
– In the year 2020, BJP’s Pranav Kumar had won by only 0.8% votes.
– Whereas in 2005, JDU had won with the biggest margin of 11% votes.
Sanjay Singh joining BJP has not only dealt a major blow to the credibility of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party, but this decision can also seriously affect the political equations in Munger and surrounding seats. Now it is going to be very interesting to see how the Bharatiya Janata Party is able to convert this political lead into electoral victory before the first phase of voting.
