Silver Jubilee celebrations have started on completion of 25 years of establishment of Uttarakhand state. In this sequence, President Draupadi Murmu reached Uttarakhand on Saturday on a three-day visit. He was welcomed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Governor Lieutenant General (Army) Gurmeet Singh at Dehradun Airport. After this the President reached Haridwar and attended the convocation ceremony of Patanjali University as the chief guest.
The President distributed degrees and medals to the students. In his address, he said, “It is a matter of pride that today 64 percent of the medals have been won by daughters. Daughters are making the country proud, and the dream of a developed India will remain incomplete without them.”
Praising Patanjali University, the President said that Yoga, Ayurveda and spirituality have done the work of purification of body and mind. He paid tribute to Maharishi Patanjali and his principles and said that this university is working in the direction of ‘nation building through individual development’.
The President called upon the students to bring positive change in the society by combining science and spirituality. He said that “Like Bhagiratha who brought Mother Ganga to earth through hard penance, you too should make efforts for nation building.”
CM Dhami said – will make youth job creators
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said in his address that Uttarakhand is connecting with research, innovation and Artificial Intelligence under the new education policy. Science City is being established in Dehradun. He said, “We are making the youth not job seekers but job providers.”
Governor said – Yoga brought revolution in health sector
Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Gurmeet Singh said that Patanjali University has given a new identity to Yoga and Ayurveda in the world. Due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga has gained respect on the international stage. He said that it is heartening to see that the youth are taking interest in traditional Indian knowledge.
1424 students got degrees
According to the university administration, degrees were awarded to a total of 1424 students in the convocation ceremony. These include 54 gold medals, 62 PhD, 3 D.Litt degrees, 744 graduate and 615 post-graduate students.
