Addressing the public meeting, the MP said, “We are Congress leaders and workers, to whom Mahatma Gandhiji showed the path and it was your ancestors who showed them the path. The people of Bihar will have to understand their participation in this country. You have to understand that it is your ancestors who built this country. When there was no road here, your ancestors were fighting the British Empire. When Mahatma Gandhiji came to know about this, he was inspired and started ‘Satyagraha’ from here.
He said that till yesterday the development here was happening at a rapid pace, but today the situation has changed. Today, 27 bridges have collapsed here in three years. Today people are struggling for livelihood. Today people here are migrating for livelihood.
Priyanka Gandhi said that big leaders of BJP come here, but never ask the people here about the reasons for migration. Today educated people here are also working as labourers. Earlier, farming was also possible, but the help that should have been received from the government for this is not being received. Earlier there used to be sugar mills in this area, but today they are closed. Today the farmers here have to go to UP to sell sugarcane.
He said that industries are closed today. There used to be income from small business also, but today even that is not happening. What is left today? Today corruption is at its peak. Money has to be paid even for small tasks. Today no one celebrates festivals happily. The condition of hospitals is also worse.
She said that women are struggling today, but no one understood them. Today when elections have come, money is being sent. This government has been running for 20 years, but never asked for employment. The people of Bihar are still building the country, but the government never gave respect. BJP does not even respect the Chief Minister here. Today the situation is such that they do not allow the Chief Minister to come even on the forums.
