Uttarakhand News: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Jaunsar Bawar Folk Cultural Festival and Sports Festival-2026 organized at Freedom Fighter Shri Kedar Singh Stadium, Nagthat, Dehradun on Monday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister honored freedom fighter Late. Offered floral tribute to the statue of Shri Kedar Singh.
During this period, the Chief Minister mentioned about the work of widening and asphalting of Samarjens Motorway, developing primary school Nagthat as an Adarsh Vidyalaya, V.K. 60 meters on Yamuna river in Bagi-Kheda-Kota-Taplad road of Chakrata. The construction work of the span bridge will be done at Km. Km of Kyarapul-Damta-Munda motor road of Chakrata. Construction work of motor road from 22 to Chhamri and Jakhani, from village Sakrol under development block Kalsi via village Bhoda-Bhalnu and Utel.
Construction work of motor road till Second Siddha Peeth Shri Mahasu Maharaj Thana, V.K. Under Chakrata, it was announced to make pumping drinking water scheme from Yamuna river at Kheda Ramarka-Kunna-Burashti under village Khabau, construction of road from Jagathan Burayla road of VK Chakrata to village Udanwa was proposed in PMGSY and to further strengthen the connectivity of the area, construction work of new link road from Dwina to Bisoi Khuna Alaman was announced.
While paying homage to Shri Mahasu Devta, the Chief Minister said that Jaunsar Bawar Cultural Revival Committee has been working to save the heritage through this festival for the last 33 years. He said Jaunsar Bhabar is known for its hardworking, simple and self-respecting people along with natural beauty. The folk culture here promotes the feeling of unity and inspires future generations to remain connected to their culture. He said that in Jaunsar-Bawar he gets to see the original soul of Uttarakhand. Jaunsar’s culture, traditions, simplicity, intimacy and respect for nature are the rich heritage of the state.
The Chief Minister said that great traditions like Jaunsar ke Raso ki Thap, Harul ki Goonj and Bond are the pride of Uttarakhand and the entire country. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, many historic works are being done for the respect, education and overall development of the tribal society in the country. Many schemes like Eklavya Model Residential School, Pradhan Mantri Tribal Advanced Gram Abhiyan, Van Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Tribal Development Mission have been implemented for the tribal communities in the country. He said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, both the policies and destiny of the tribal society have changed.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has tried to give a platform to culture and heritage through the Uttarakhand Tribal Festival. The government has also decided to organize Tribal Sports Festival every year. Under the Pradhan Mantri Tribal Unnat Gram Abhiyan, 128 tribal villages of the state have been identified. Under which, work is being done to rejuvenate these villages by providing them every basic facility like roads, electricity, water and internet.
The Chief Minister said that Eklavya Model Residential Schools are being run in Kalsi, Mehravana, Bajpur and Khatima. Through which tribal children are getting the facility of free world class residential education. Construction work of new Eklavya residential schools is also going on in Bajpur and Chakrata. The government is also providing scholarships for education to the children of tribal society, from primary level to postgraduate level. Presently 16 state ashram system schools are also being run for educational development.
The Chief Minister said that financial assistance of ₹ 50 thousand is being provided for the marriage of daughters of the tribal community. A corpus fund of Rs 1 crore has been set up for the Tribal Research Institute Jaunsar Bawar is continuously working to improve roads, water and infrastructure in the area. The state government had approved 56 schemes worth about Rs 39 crore for the development of Chakrata. Of these, 51 schemes have been completed. The remaining 5 schemes will also be completed soon. Plans worth more than Rs 1,300 crore are underway to strengthen the roads in the entire region.
The Chief Minister said that the widening of National Highways 707 and 707A is continuing on a war footing. A permanent solution is being provided to the problem of landslide near Jajred on Kalsi-Chakrata road. Work on New Chakrata Township Hayyo Danda Pumping Scheme is underway at a cost of approximately Rs 229 crore. Due to which there will never be shortage of water in future. Development work on the historic master plan of Rs 120 crore for the grand development of Shri Mahasu Devta Temple complex is also in progress.
On this occasion, MLA Mr. Munna Singh Chauhan, former District Panchayat President Mrs. Madhu Chauhan, responsible Mr. Geeta Ram Gaur, Chairman of Fair Committee Mr. Naresh Chauhan, General Secretary Fair Committee Mr. Narendra Tomar, Mr. Khushiram Joshi, Mr. Jaipal Singh Tomar, Mr. Shoorveer Singh Tomar, Mr. Balveer Singh Negi and others were present.
