Uttarakhand News: On the occasion of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Utsav Day, a program was organized on the occasion of release of the 23rd installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana at Himalaya Cultural Centre, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the program.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami watched the virtual broadcast of the installment of Kisan Samman Nidhi released by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from West Bengal through DBT to the farmers across the country. Rajya Sabha MP Shri Naresh Bansal, Cabinet Minister Shri Ganesh Joshi, MLA Mrs. Savita Kapoor and a large number of farmers from across the state, people associated with agriculture sector and public representatives were present in the program.

Dhami expressed gratitude to Modi and Shivraj

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated and congratulated all the Annadata brothers and sisters of the state on the release of the 23rd installment of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi. He said that this occasion is an important step towards respect, prosperity and empowerment of farmers. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister said that through the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, financial assistance is being provided directly to crores of farmers across the country in their bank accounts in a transparent manner. He said that today an amount of Rs 18 thousand 880 crore has been transferred to about 10 crore farmers across the country through DBT. Under this, more than 8 lakh farmers of Uttarakhand have received assistance amounting to more than Rs 159 crore.

Benefited farmers increased from four to eight lakhs

The Chief Minister said that when this scheme was started in the year 2019, about 4 lakh farmers in Uttarakhand were benefiting from it, which has increased to more than 8 lakh today. This symbolizes the growing confidence of farmers in the double engine government and shows that the benefits of the schemes are reaching the last mile. He said that the security of the country is ensured by the soldiers deployed on the borders, while the food security of the country is strengthened by the hard work of the farmers working in the fields. The farmer not only grows crops, but also works to shape the future of the nation.

Every possible help to farmers under Modi’s leadership

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has given top priority to the respect, safety and prosperity of farmers. Through the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, assistance is being provided to compensate for the losses caused by natural disasters, while through the Soil Health Card Scheme, farmers are being helped in increasing production by providing information about soil quality. He said that efforts are being made to make farming more profitable through various schemes including natural farming, modern agricultural techniques, expansion of irrigation facilities.

Uttarakhand government committed to the continuous progress of farmers

The Chief Minister said that the Uttarakhand government is also continuously working to empower the farmers. In this direction, it has been decided to make irrigation from canals completely free in the state. A provision of Rs 200 crore has been made in the budget to increase the income of farmers. He said that more than 350 modern polyhouses have been constructed in the state with an investment of about Rs 115 crore, which is helping the farmers in better production and increase in income.

Uttarakhand Climate Responsive Rain-Fed Farming Project Approved

The Chief Minister said that farming in the hilly areas depends to a large extent on rainfall. Keeping this challenge in mind, “Uttarakhand Climate Responsive Rain-Fed Farming Project” has been approved at a cost of Rs 1000 crore, which will make farming safe even amidst the changing weather. He said that schemes like New Apple Policy, Kiwi Policy, Dragon Fruit Policy and State Millet Mission have been implemented to promote fruit production. Under these schemes, up to 80 percent subsidy is being provided to the farmers.

Mehak Kranti to pioneer aroma farming

The Chief Minister said that to protect the crops of the farmers and to provide them better markets, facilities like cold chain, cold storage, CA storage and mega food park are being expanded. He said that “Mehak Kranti” policy has been implemented to make Uttarakhand a leader in the field of aroma cultivation. Under this, 7 Aroma Valleys are being developed in the state and cultivation of aromatic plants is being promoted in 23 thousand hectare area.

Work on establishing identity with House of Himalayas brand

The Chief Minister said that through the “House of Himalayas” brand, work is being done to give national and international recognition to the local products and millets of Uttarakhand. He said that due to clear policy and honest intentions, Uttarakhand has achieved the first position in the entire country in the field of increasing the income of farmers. This achievement is the result of the hard work and contribution of every farmer brother and sister of the state.

Succeeded in benefiting from the plan

The Chief Minister said that the present government is not limiting the farmers to only the schemes, but is working with complete transparency to extend the benefits of the schemes to the actual beneficiaries. Farmers are the pride of the nation and the government is committed to their prosperity. The Chief Minister called upon the farmers of the state to take maximum advantage of traditional farming as well as modern technologies, scientific agricultural methods and public welfare schemes of the government and participate in fulfilling the resolve of developed Uttarakhand.
