
Baghpat News: Baghpat. A grand opening of the two-day inter-college wrestling competition took place on Thursday at Janata Vedic (JV) College, Baraut. This competition is being organized among the colleges affiliated to Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, in which teams from more than a dozen colleges are participating.
The program was inaugurated by Municipality Chairman Baraut representative Ashwini Tomar, College Management Committee Chairman Virendrapal Singh and Principal Dr. Virendra Pratap Singh by jointly lighting the lamp. The chief guests got introduced to the players and boosted their morale.
On the first day, men’s freestyle wrestling was held, in which 47 players from 19 teams showed their strength in different weight categories. In the inaugural match, in the 57 kg category, Himanshu Pawar of Dharampal Singh Degree College made an exciting start to the competition by defeating Keshav Pal of Janhit Sansthan, Ghaziabad by 10-0.
Tushar of Noida Physical College was the winner in 61 kg category, while Sadab and Satyam Khokar of Chaudhary Charan Singh PG College, Chhaprauli won gold medals in 65 and 70 kg categories. Anuj of Dharampal Singh College in 74 kg category and Vishal Vikas Baisla of NCPE, Noida in 79 kg category performed brilliantly.
Rajat Tomar, Arjun Tomar and Akshay Rana of Janta Vedic College won gold medals in 86, 92 and 97 kg categories, giving the college the lead in the overall championship. In the final match, Mayank Tomar of Meerut College was victorious in the 125 kg category.
As per the results of the first day, Janata Vedic College Baraut topped the list with three gold and one bronze medals. The program was conducted by Dr. Geeta Rani. On this occasion, many dignitaries including University Supervisor Jabar Singh, Raghuveer Singh, Mehak Singh, Shyodan Singh, former Principal Dr. Arun Kumar Solanki were present.
