
IND VS AFG 2nd ODI: India has defeated Afghanistan by 170 runs in the second match of the ODI series played at Ekana Stadium. With this victory, India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series. India had given Afghanistan a target of 403 runs to win. The Afghan team was all out for 232 in 44.3 overs and lost the match by 170 runs. This is Afghanistan’s second biggest defeat in ODIs in terms of runs.
To achieve the big target of 403 runs, Afghanistan needed a big innings from any top order batsman, but the top 4 batsmen could not convert the good start into big innings and due to this the team had to face defeat by a big margin.
Rahmat Shah scored the highest score of 79 runs for Afghanistan. Apart from this, Sediqullah Atal scored 42 runs, Rehmanullah Gurbaz scored 41 runs, and Ibrahim Zadran scored 21 runs. Apart from this, no batsman could face the Indian bowlers.
For India, Arshdeep Singh took 3 wickets for 45 runs in 9 overs and Gurnur Brar took 3 wickets for 60 runs in 10 overs. Prince Yadav, playing his first match, got 2 wickets, while Washington Sundar got 1 wicket.
Afghanistan won the toss and handed over batting to the Indian team. The Indian team had scored 402 runs in 49.5 overs thanks to the century innings of captain Shubhman Gill and wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan. For Team India, Shubman Gill played an inning of 154 runs in 110 balls. In this innings, Gill hit 2 sixes and 22 fours. This was Gill’s 9th century in his ODI career.
Ishan Kishan played an inning of 125 runs in 79 balls with the help of 7 sixes and 14 fours. This was Kishan’s second ODI century.
Gill and Kishan made a partnership of 224 runs for the third wicket. This was India’s biggest ODI partnership for any wicket against Afghanistan.
Rohit Sharma scored 48 runs on 39 balls and Shreyas Iyer scored 26 runs on 24 balls.
