India vs Australia 2025: In the first match of the three-match ODI series played in Perth, Australia registered a spectacular victory by defeating India by 7 wickets. Affected by rain, this match was reduced to 26-26 overs. Batting first, India scored 136 runs losing 9 wickets. Under the DLS rule, Australia got the target of 131 runs, which it easily achieved in 21.1 overs. With this win, Australia is ahead 1-0 in the series. Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, India had to face defeat in the opening match.

Indian batsmen could not show their strength

The Indian team, which came to bat first after losing the toss, had a very bad start. The team lost its first wicket in the fourth over itself, when captain Rohit Sharma was out after scoring only 8 runs. Soon after this, Virat Kohli also returned to the pavilion without opening his account. Shubhman Gill also scored only 10 runs in 18 balls. Three big batsmen of India were out in just 25 runs.

Play was stopped several times due to rain and the match was eventually reduced to 26 overs. For the Indian team, wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul scored the maximum 38 runs. Apart from him, Akshar Patel contributed 31 runs. Rest of the batsmen could not score big. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Owen and Matthew Kuhnman bowled brilliantly and took two wickets each. The middle order of the Indian team once again proved to be weak, due to which the team could not score a big score.

Mitchell Marsh led Australia to victory

The start of the Australian team chasing the target was also not good. In the very second over, Travis Head was out after scoring only 8 runs. However, after this Mitchell Marsh and Matthew Short tried to control the innings and made a partnership of 34 runs for the second wicket. Short scored 8 runs on 17 balls. After this, Mitchell Marsh along with Josh Philip put the team in a strong position. There was an important partnership of 55 runs between the two for the third wicket. Phillip scored 37 runs on 29 balls, while Mitchell Marsh played a brilliant inning of 46 runs. In the end Matt Renshaw remained unbeaten after scoring 21 runs and led the team to victory. From the Indian bowlers, Arshdeep Singh, Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar got one wicket each. However, that edge was not visible in the Indian bowling, due to which Australia achieved the target easily.
