
Lucknow News: Amolika Singh of UP Badminton Academy and Siddharth Mishra of Lucknow have performed brilliantly. Both of them have won the men’s and women’s singles winning trophy by defeating the top seeded players in the Yonex Sunrise Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Memorial UP State Senior Badminton Championship. Sonali Singh of UP Badminton Academy excelled in doubles in the championship with prize money of Rs 5 lakh held at UP Badminton Academy.
Men’s and women’s singles upsets
She has won titles in both mixed doubles with Daksh Gautam of Agra and women’s doubles with Rama Singh of Aligarh. In the women’s singles final, Amolika Singh of Badminton Academy defeated top seed Divyanshi Gautam of Agra 21-5, 17-21, 21-19 with the help of her fast service and better strategy. Amolika has won the title with clever strategy in the deciding game. Earlier in the semi-finals, Sneha Singh of Lucknow was defeated 21-5, 21-3.
Sonali Singh’s double blast
In the men’s singles final, Siddharth Mishra of Lucknow defeated Ansh Vishal Gupta of Prayagraj 10-21, 21-18, 21-17 in a thrilling match. Siddharth made a comeback after losing the first game. Defeated Noida’s Neer Nehwal 21-19, 21-13 in the semi-finals. In the mixed doubles category, the pair of Agra’s Daksh Gautam and Academy’s Sonali Singh won the title by defeating Badminton Academy’s Kunwar Shivang and Sujata Singh 21-16, 21-8. In women’s doubles, the pair of Rama Singh and Sonali Singh defeated Shivangi Singh and Sujata Singh in straight games 21-12, 21-15.
Award distribution ceremony took place
In men’s doubles, the pair of Balkesari Yadav of Maharajganj and Shubham Yadav of Jaunpur won the trophy by defeating Rajan Yadav of Police and Tushar Gagneja of Gorakhpur by 21-17, 17-21, 21-18. At the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the championship, the chief guest, Chancellor of Babu Banarasi Das University, Alka Das and Vice President of BBD Group, Devanshi Das and Sonakshi Das honored the winners by presenting them trophies and prize money. On this occasion, Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association Secretary Dr. Sudharma Singh and many officials and sports lovers were present.
